“We would like to thank you for your inscription and inform you that Speegar is a website dedicated to make you laugh!
From your account, you can share any image or video to spread the mad laughter!”

This is the welcoming line you would see after signing into the website.

Introduction

A group of hard working Tunisian developers created a social network website called Speegar, on which they spent months working. It was released on the 22nd of July 2018.

The website offers you the chance to interact with people through posts, comments and reacts. It also gives you the possibility to communicate with other users through messages.

You can enter the site by typing  www.speegar.com. To gain access as a user you can either login with Facebook or sign up after creating an account.

The aim of this website is to spread laughter, joy and positive energy among people.

Site review

As with all social networking sites, there are three main factors that may guarantee its success or failure. The accessibility, the usability and the design.

Overview:

The site is generally well designed, has only few usability problems, accessible to anyone and interactive enough to draw people’s attention. Thankfully the site is still under development even after release to minimize the problems that still exists.

Design

Speegar has a good design, it’s clean, simple and in a way pleasing to the eye. The colour scheme of the newly released website is dominated by a smooth ghostwhite with a pop of the colour limegreen along the pages of the site and in the letter S of the name. The site has a well organized visual identity, the design is very consistent throughout all of the pages; clean and easy to read.

However, there are few issues that must be addressed.

The bar at the top is overall boring, from the lack of colour that should be changed to stand out from the whole page to the lame search field. The profile picture frame is too small, everything written in the site is in black or in silver-grey. Overall, the site could use more colours to look less pale and lifeless.

Usability

In a general view, the site is very easy to use, everything is clear and organized. Usability is an extremely important area of a website and luckily, on this website it’s rather excellent; it is extremely easy to navigate, but there are few small problems that are incredibly frustrating.

You cannot add more information on your own profile. To answer a message you have to leave the page you’re currently on. You cannot get rid of that blue bar that asks you to enable notifications, and you cannot block other users on Speegar.

Accessibility

The site is accessible to anyone who visits it. It is very easy to create an account and enter the site as a user. As any other newly created site, Speegar faces –for now- the problem of website traffic. You can have the best website in the world but if no one sees it, it won’t matter. This issue won’t stand for long, the website will surely blow up due to the fact that it’s well developed and pleasing to the user.

As a conclusion, Speegar is a brilliant site, the layout is simple yet very effective, would definitely appeal to the average person. It is a clean site with a flawless look and appreciable functions. But will this Tunisian newborn website be able to steal some traffic from the old mainstream social media networks like Facebook and Instagram? For now we can only cherish this idea of a combination between 9gag and Facebook.
