Beans Greens Potatoes Tomatoes, it might sound like I’m swearing but I swear I’m not.

This bizzare name is the name of the team that ranked 3rd at the 2017 Tunisia Big Data Hackathon. An event that was organized for the first time in Tunisia by « egovsociety » and « Fredrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom » aiming to valorise big data and help in making critical measures in different sectors.

This event’s challenge took place last Saturday and Sunday at «Tunis Arena Lake »; it consisted of developing an idea regarding the manipulation of big data in just 24 hours. During this event, BGPT’s Team members, Kais Ben Daamech, Ahmed Ben Neji, Yessine Borchani, Ilyes Chine and Nadhem Maaloul, 3rd year students at INSAT, were able to develop an app that they named «Can I travel » with the objective of predicting the availability of car-pooling (covoiturage) using data from other existing car-pooling  apps. All you need to do is just enter the day you want to travel during, and it provides you with the best time to find a ride.

With no pre-preparations, and with this being their first time manipulating big data, getting 3rd place is certainly something to be proud of.
