Prayers and respects go to the souls that Tunisia has lost. May God be with their families and loved ones and may the ones having a part in their passing be held accountable. The sad news struck everyone by surprise on this gloomy Sunday. Yet, what hurts and kills even more are the reactions of some people towards this news.

I was shocked and disgusted by the posts and comments that were shared by insensitive internauts. I use this neutral term because what I have in mind is far harsher. It was not mere indifference nor a simple sharing of opinion. It was an outright attack and hate thrown at souls that are no longer here to defend themselves.

I was outraged because these comments were saying “they deserved what happened to them”, “what do you expect from a bunch of girls and boys that are mingling together” and phrases like “it was the right ending for people who were dancing and celebrating”. How hypocritical and inhuman can you get?

First of all, no one deserves to die in such a horrid way. Alas, life is not pretty and we never know how we leave this world. BUT, to gloat and celebrate their death, that is just beyond low. Not only are these beasts saying disgusting things but they are also judging. The same people who live a double life full of debauchery and sins are the ones out there calling out normal activities that every youth enjoys and are turning them into an evil thing. SHAME ON THEM.

Nothing expresses the sadness that these families are going through. As they grieve, Tunisia grieves as well. What happened to these souls can be the fate of any of us. My advice to all of you is never take life for granted. Try to be kind to those who love you and be nice to those around you. And if you see an evil comment that judges and gloats the death of youngsters, report and delete it.

Rest in peace…
