When it comes to games, we’ll stick to the ones with short playing sessions so that you won’t get distracted from studying. After all, securing a bright future is what we all seek and hopefully will get!

Therefore, we will be talking about one of the best games fitting this category. It’s the one and only “Cytus”. A mobile rhythm game developed by the Taiwanese company “Rayark Inc”. This company is known for publishing AAA  (AAA stands for top tier) mobile games with stunning visual effects and voice acting/OSTs (Original soundtracks).

The game is available on both Android  2.3+  and iOS 7.0+. Although, you should note that a good touch screen (preferably with multitouch reaching 5 simultaneous points at a time) is recommended to play the game comfortably.

Cytus’ gameplay is easy to grasp. As in any rhythm game, the goal is to “tap”/” Hold” the circles on the screen on the right timing which is decided by a horizontal line pathing up and down the screen. The goal is to score the maximum score which is 1 Million in each and every song throughout the game.

Note: The user is tapping along the horizontal line.

The story is divided into 10 songs-chapters. Each song having an easy and a hard version to play. Starting from chapter I to chapter X (10), you’ll experience the game’s main story which is EPIC. Here is a quote telling the story taken from the FANDOM website.

“In the distant future, the only sentient beings in the world are robots.

They are the last remnant of the human spirit.

However, mankind is not dead.

Technology exists that is capable of transferring memories to these robots.

But with limited space, new memories will gradually overwrite the old.

To prevent the emotions in human memories from fading away, the robots resorted to converting the emotions to music, and storing them in a place called Cytus.

The robots use these songs to experience human emotion and dream that souls exist in each of them…

Cytus “– Cytus Wikia #Storyline

As you play the main storyline, you’ll go through the journey that Vanessa went through for the sake of humanity. I honestly want to tell you the events of the story but I can’t. *sad face*

The company followed what they call the “1 million downloads plan”. For each 1 Million downloads, the company releases a new chapter. That’s what gave birth to the extra chapters; S (Symphony), K (Knight), R (Retro), T (Timeline), D (Deemo), L, N (Night keepers), M(Million). By the way, There are hidden songs in many chapters! Figure out how to play them!

This is the part in which I share my experience playing the game (please bear with the fangirling). I played the game for almost 2 years. Especially during the first year, I literally got addicted to the game, and it got even worse when it gave birth to competition with a friend. Everything about the game is top-notch: the art is mesmerizing to look at, the quality of the sound is top tier, the songs are engaging with some having battles theme and others would be soft and relaxing to listen to. Some chapters/songs are super challenging which is nice to have. Not to forget to mention that hunting the 1 Million score is quite tough yet fun thing to do.

Google play store rating:  4.7 Stars (~ 545.000 ratings)

Apple app store rating: 4.9 Stars (~ 870 ratings)

My personal rating would be:

  • Graphics: 5/5
  • Gameplay: 5/5
  • Progress & fun: 4/5 (although definitely 5/5 if you’re competing against your friends.)
  • Story: 9999/5
