When it comes to games, we’ll stick to the ones with short playing sessions so that you won’t get distracted from studying. After all, securing a bright future is what we all seek and hopefully will get!

Therefore, we will be talking about one of the best games fitting this category. It’s the one and only “Cytus”. A mobile rhythm game developed by the Taiwanese company “Rayark Inc”. This company is known for publishing AAA  (AAA stands for top tier) mobile games with stunning visual effects and voice acting/OSTs (Original soundtracks).

The game is available on both Android  2.3+  and iOS 7.0+. Although, you should note that a good touch screen (preferably with multitouch reaching 5 simultaneous points at a time) is recommended to play the game comfortably.

Cytus’ gameplay is easy to grasp. As in any rhythm game, the goal is to “tap”/” Hold” the circles on the screen on the right timing which is decided by a horizontal line pathing up and down the screen. The goal is to score the maximum score which is 1 Million in each and every song throughout the game.

Note: The user is tapping along the horizontal line.

The story is divided into 10 songs-chapters. Each song having an easy and a hard version to play. Starting from chapter I to chapter X (10), you’ll experience the game’s main story which is EPIC. Here is a quote telling the story taken from the FANDOM website.

“In the distant future, the only sentient beings in the world are robots.

They are the last remnant of the human spirit.

However, mankind is not dead.

Technology exists that is capable of transferring memories to these robots.

But with limited space, new memories will gradually overwrite the old.

To prevent the emotions in human memories from fading away, the robots resorted to converting the emotions to music, and storing them in a place called Cytus.

The robots use these songs to experience human emotion and dream that souls exist in each of them…

Cytus “– Cytus Wikia #Storyline

As you play the main storyline, you’ll go through the journey that Vanessa went through for the sake of humanity. I honestly want to tell you the events of the story but I can’t. *sad face*

The company followed what they call the “1 million downloads plan”. For each 1 Million downloads, the company releases a new chapter. That’s what gave birth to the extra chapters; S (Symphony), K (Knight), R (Retro), T (Timeline), D (Deemo), L, N (Night keepers), M(Million). By the way, There are hidden songs in many chapters! Figure out how to play them!

This is the part in which I share my experience playing the game (please bear with the fangirling). I played the game for almost 2 years. Especially during the first year, I literally got addicted to the game, and it got even worse when it gave birth to competition with a friend. Everything about the game is top-notch: the art is mesmerizing to look at, the quality of the sound is top tier, the songs are engaging with some having battles theme and others would be soft and relaxing to listen to. Some chapters/songs are super challenging which is nice to have. Not to forget to mention that hunting the 1 Million score is quite tough yet fun thing to do.

Google play store rating:  4.7 Stars (~ 545.000 ratings)

Apple app store rating: 4.9 Stars (~ 870 ratings)

My personal rating would be:

  • Graphics: 5/5
  • Gameplay: 5/5
  • Progress & fun: 4/5 (although definitely 5/5 if you’re competing against your friends.)
  • Story: 9999/5

Chapter 3 : England, The Short Reign of Jane Grey.

I was steadily walking inside a tower, a mighty one. It was almost as if it were put there to convey both terror and admiration, angst and fascination. That was Tower Green, where lady Jane Grey, Queen of England for nine days, was to be executed.

As I gazed out from one of the windows, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe and solemnity. This towering structure had witnessed some of the most significant moments in English history, and today it was to be the site of yet another tragedy.

I tried to imagine what it must have been like for Lady Jane Grey, knowing that her reign was to be short-lived, and that she would meet her end at this very spot. It was hard to fathom the fear and despair that must have gripped her in those final moments, and the sense of injustice at being punished for a crime she did not commit.

Lady Jane Grey was just sixteen years of age when she was crowned Queen of England in 1553. She was the great-granddaughter of King Henry VII and the cousin of King Edward VI, who had named her as his heir on his deathbed.

However, her reign was short-lived, lasting only nine days. The people of England were loyal to whom they conceived as their rightful heir, Mary Tudor, who was the daughter of King Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon. She was a staunch Catholic, while Jane was a Protestant.

The Tudor queen, with the support of her followers, rallied an army and took the throne from Jane, who was imprisoned in the Tower of London. Despite several attempts to rescue her, including a failed rebellion led by her father, Jane was found guilty of treason and sentenced to death.

On 12 February 1554, Lady Jane Grey was led to the scaffold on Tower Green, where she met her fate. The little girl, caught in a game of political power, refused the Catholic Queen’s offer to spare her life if she converts to catholicism. She bravely faced her executioners, and it is said that she recited Psalm 51 as she knelt before the block. Her final words were, « Lord, into thy hands I commend my spirit. »

That moment was heart-wrenching to witness. Lady Jane Grey reminded me of all the deterioration of my time, of the moral decay and human suffering caused by war and political turmoil. Jane, a virtuous and unassuming child, was suddenly thrust into the brutal and ruthless world of political machinations, where her fate was predetermined by the avarice and ambition of those around her. To me, that was a striking reminder of all the children who did not choose where they are and whose lives are shattered by the cruel caprices of history, a stirring call to protect the vulnerable and innocent, to safeguard the sanctity of human life and dignity and a lifetime grief of all the precious souls lost.
