Review: La casa de Papel

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard about « La casa de Papel ». This Spanich heist thriller is not to be missed. A very intelligently written plot that’ll keep you up all night.
A mysterious man, also referred to as “The Professor”, rounds up a group of uniquely talented thiefs with nothing to lose to commit the biggest heist ever. The mission is simple: enter the Factory of Moneda and Timbre and, with time, print 2.400 million Euros.
This may sound a bit familiar: a group of misfits coming together to commit a crime, but believe me it’s not in any way shape or form « expected ».
Throughout the first season, as short as it may seem (13 episodes), we will get to know each of the eight members very intimately, their flaws, their beliefs … guided through all of this by Tokio, a young thief, on the run with nowhere to turn.
The identity of the eight thiefs is hidden to each other and they are referred to with cities’ names: Berlin, Tokio, Rio, Denver, Moscow, Oslo, Hilsinki, Nairobi.
Although the main focus is the heist itself, other key players step forward throughout the series blurring the line between who to root for.
The plot is very well written that it captures such excitement and tension that’ll keep it on your mind for a long time. If you are willing to look past the language barrier, You should definatly give it a go for this is one of the best thrillers to be released in quite some time.
